Pigment spots are caused by an overproduction of melanin in the skin. They can have various causes, including sun exposure, hormonal changes or the natural ageing process. Pigment spots are usually medically harmless, but they can significantly affect the appearance of the skin.
The most common types include:
The type, depth and intensity of the pigment spots determine the most suitable treatment method.
To remove pigment spots, we primarily use modern laser treatments at SkinTime, especially the PicoSure® laser. This laser works with ultra-short picosecond pulses that specifically break down pigment without unnecessarily affecting the surrounding tissue.
Depending on the skin condition, additional procedures may also be useful, for example:
Before each treatment, a personal skin analysis is carried out to determine the type and depth of the pigment spots. Based on this, we create an individual treatment plan. Depending on the pigmentation disorder, several sessions may be necessary to achieve an even and long-lasting result. The intervals between treatments are determined individually.
Pigment spot removal is suitable for women and men who suffer from visible skin discolourations on the face, hands or other areas of the body. Modern laser and combination treatments allow for safe treatment for different skin types. During a personal consultation, we determine which method is most suitable in each case.
After treatment, mild redness or a feeling of warmth may occur, and in rare cases slight swelling. Before treatment, the skin should not be heavily tanned. After treatment, consistent sun protection is particularly important.
Treatment is not recommended in cases of acute inflammation, certain skin conditions or during pregnancy. Individual suitability is always assessed in advance.
At SkinTime, safety, quality and personalised care are our top priorities. Our decades of experience, combined with treatment by qualified and NiSV-certified specialists, form the basis for safe and convincing results.

Many pigment spots can be permanently removed or significantly lightened. The decisive factors are the type and depth of the pigmentation. Superficial pigment spots respond particularly well to laser treatments, while deeper pigmentation disorders often require several sessions.
The treatment is generally considered well tolerated. During laser treatment, a slight feeling of warmth or tingling may occur, but this usually only lasts a short time. Anaesthesia is usually not necessary.
Initial lightening is often visible after just a few weeks. The treated pigments are gradually broken down by the body. The final result usually becomes visible after several weeks.
In principle, treatment is possible; however, the skin should not be heavily tanned. Consistent sun protection before and after treatment is especially important to avoid pigment shifts.
The number of sessions depends on the type and severity of the pigment spots. In many cases, several treatments are advisable to achieve an even and long-lasting result.
